Getting started
How do I get started?
Sign up with your email and a display name, then you're straight into the app. The home screen shows you today's three puzzles (morning, afternoon, evening). Tap any one that's unlocked to play it.
I can't sign in. What should I do?
First, double-check your email and password — passwords are case-sensitive. If you've forgotten your password, email us at hello@puzil.io and we'll send you a reset link. If you keep getting an "invalid email" message, make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the address.
How do I change my display name?
Go to the Profile tab at the bottom right. Tap your name to edit it, then tap Save. Your new name will appear on the league table after a refresh.
Daily puzzles
What are the daily puzzles?
Each day, three puzzles unlock at different times — one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening. Every user sees the same three puzzles each day, and which puzzle type you get rotates from day to day so it stays varied.
Why is one of today's slots locked?
Puzzles unlock at fixed times: morning at 7:00, afternoon at 13:00, evening at 19:00 (your local time). If a slot is still locked, it hasn't unlocked yet today — the card shows you how long until it does.
I missed a puzzle yesterday — can I still play it?
Each day's puzzles are only available that day. Once a new day starts, yesterday's puzzles are gone and a new set takes their place. This keeps the league fair and the daily ritual interesting.
How is my score calculated?
You earn 1 point for every second under the time limit:
- Solve-style puzzles (Word Challenge, Memory Match, etc.):
240 − seconds_taken - Round-based puzzles (Pattern Matrix, Number Sequence, Symbol Cipher): based on how many rounds you got right
- Battle wins:
300 − seconds_takenfor the winner
If you run out of time without finishing, your score is 0 but the puzzle still counts as played for the day.
The league
What is the monthly league?
The monthly league on the home screen ranks players by their total points across every puzzle and battle win in the current calendar month. It resets on the 1st of every month, giving everyone a fresh chance to climb.
Why am I not appearing in the league?
You need at least one completed puzzle or battle win this month to show up. If you've played but still don't see yourself, pull down on the home screen to refresh. If that doesn't fix it, email us with your account email and we'll take a look.
How often does the league update?
The league refreshes when you open the home screen, every minute while you're on it, and whenever you pull-to-refresh.
Battles
How do I invite a friend to a battle?
Tap the Battle tab at the bottom and choose Create a Battle. Share the invite code or link with your friend — they enter the code in their copy of the app to join. Both of you race against the same puzzle; whoever finishes first wins.
My friend joined the battle but it isn't starting
Both players need to be on the lobby screen for the countdown to start. If you're sure your friend is on the lobby and it still doesn't start, ask them to tap "Leave battle" and rejoin with the same code.
Do battle wins count for the league?
Yes — winning a battle awards league points based on how fast you finished. Only the winner gets points, and only your highest-scoring battle of the day counts toward the league (so a single fluke win doesn't get devalued by a slower one later).
Notifications
How do I turn push notifications on or off?
Go to Profile → Push notifications and toggle the switch. If your phone has previously blocked notifications, the switch won't be able to turn them on — you'll need to enable them at the iOS level in Settings → puzil → Notifications first.
I turned on notifications but I'm not getting any
Check that iOS hasn't blocked them: Settings → puzil → Notifications. If they're enabled there but you still aren't receiving them, try toggling them off and on again inside the app — that re-registers your device.
Your account
How do I sign out?
Go to Profile → Sign out. You can sign back in any time with the same email and password.
How do I delete my account?
Email us at hello@puzil.io from the email address linked to your account, with "delete account" in the subject line. We'll permanently delete your account and associated data within 30 days, as described in our Privacy Policy.
I forgot my password
Email us at hello@puzil.io from your account email address and we'll send you a reset link.
Troubleshooting
The app crashed — what should I do?
Force-quit the app and reopen it. If it keeps crashing, try restarting your phone. If the problem still happens, please email us with a description of what you were doing when it crashed, plus your iOS version and device model — that helps us reproduce the bug.
I found a bug — how do I report it?
Email us at hello@puzil.io. A short description of what you saw vs. what you expected helps a lot. A screenshot or screen recording is gold.
The app feels slow / the leaderboard isn't loading
Check your internet connection — the leaderboard and your scores both rely on a network call. If you're online and it still won't load, pull down to refresh on the home screen. If it persists, let us know.
